Description of the "Via Musica" series
A sequential series based on Zoltán Kodály's philosophy and pedagogical principles, but also representative of other modern approaches to music education, namely Dalcroze, Willems, Martenot and Orff.

Mes chansons, ma musique, books A and B, Teacher, a, b, students

Books A and B form a set in themselves and it is recommended to use them as such. Based on modern approaches to music education, principally Kodály and others, Orff, Dalcroze, Willems, Martenot. Centered on the learning through live experience, the basic concepts and skills of the music language are acquired in as a natural sequence of prolonged and repreated experience.
Books A and B contain a total of 170 songs set in a melodic seqguence ranging from simple two-note folksongs to more elaborate melodies, suitable for older beginners in music education. The songs are associated to well-illustrated games, rounds, mimes, dances and other activities. The pleasant atmosphere thus created, is in itself conducive to learning, not only the music language, but also the French culture und language. Songs carry a special power as their very nature is repetitious and effortlessly prolongs classwork on to the playground and even into the homes.
Teacher and students will find in this broad repertoire an abundant variety of traditional themes enriched with very simple analyses of its music content, its form and the unigue character of each. song. The moderate price of the student's book enhanced by simple drawings, enables every child to have his personal song book as a precious possession which he can color at will.

Mes chansons, ma musique, books C and D

These two books form a set in themselves and like the preceding Books A and B, are founded on the latest approaches to music education.
Their content of 430 songs offer a broad range of choice respecting individual preferences. They are set in a melodic sequence which serves as a wonderful pedagogical guide for teachers. This progression enables students to acquire the concepts and fundamental skills of the music language in a pleasant way, the human voice acting as live music instrument. One third of the songs are associated to well-illustrated games, rounds, dances, mimes, stage plays, and other activities. Their French lyrics offer an excellent means of practicing in an effortless way the French linguistic skills, while transmitting its cultural values. Every song is enhanced with:
1. a brief analysis of its music content, its particular form and individual traits
2. a brief note on the lyrics
3. chords for instrumental accompaniment
4. artistic drawings highlighting many songs
5. a well-illustrated glossary
6. pedagogical notions on various modern approaches to music education

These two books contain respectivelv 230 SA songs and 260 SSA songs set in a sequential order going from easy versions to more challenging ones.
This abundant repertoire represents many styles: folksongs, renaissance, romantic, spirituals and contemporary. The thematic covers 20 subjects of varied interests. The songs are beautifully illustrated as well as the glossary. A section is consecrated to choral technique offering many practical hints for the music director A general index contains all the 1660 songs of the whole series of Via Musica (ten books)
