HUNGARIAN DONATION
TO THE GREEK KODÁLY CONSERVATORY AND INSTITUTE
The Greek Kodály Conservatory and Institute has organized an official Concert in order to announce the acquisition of a new Grand Piano and a Cembalo bought with the generous donation (41.000 €) of the HUNGARIAN "Ministry of Cultural Heritage." (Nemzeti Kulturális Alapprogram)
The donation was announced on September 22, 2003, by the Hungarian Cultural Minister Hiller during his official visit at the GKCI, together with Madame Dalma Mádl, wife of the Hungarian President, and Madame Sarolta Kodály.
The professors of the Early Music Department Jerassimos Coidan and Katerina Vlati performed on the beautiful new German Harpsichord after Miethke (Two manuals: I manual 8'+4', II manual 8', shove coupler, 415-440 Hz) made by William Jurgenson.
The piano professors Mika Papadopoulou, Elke Robersscheuten and Lorenda Ramou presented the new piano. Together with the flute prof. Melina Makri, the violin prof. Antonis Remoundos and the young student of singing Eirini Patsea they performed pieces by Zoltán Kodály and Nikos Skalkottas.
Mme Sarolta Kodály was present together with Greek and Hungarian officials. The Concert also commemorated the anniversary of Zoltán Kodály's birth (December 16th)

KOSTAS PASKALIS
The Greek Kodály Conservatory and Institute has organized a great concert (Opera gala) to celebrate the 75th birth anniversary of a living legend: the Greek Baritone Kostas Paskalis, nowadays head of the singing department of the Conservatory.
The concert took place at the Athens American College Theatre on December 11th 2005. A wind quintet and the Greek 'Kodály Conservatory Children's Choir' conducted by Michalis Patseas opened the programme. After that, eight already famous young opera singers, former students of K. Paskalis, sang songs, arias and duets.
More than 700 people were present including important personalities of the Greek music life. Mme Sarolta Kodály and her mother were among them.
The Concert was put in the frame of the CELEBRATION YEAR commemorating the 30th anniversary of International Kodály Society.
